"Boynton Inlet Water Quality Study"

In 2004, FAU Lab.EES teamed up with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Adminstration's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory to investigate the role of on-site treatment and disposal systems (OSTDS), or septic tanks, and surface water flows out of the Boynton Inlet on the long-term health of the coastal coral reef communities in Palm Beach County.

"Taylor County Beaches Pathogen Study"

In 2005, the Florida Department of Health Bureau of On-Site Sewage Programs issued a research grant to FAU Lab.EES to investigate the source of observed fecal pollution documented at several Taylor County beaches.

FAU was contracted to conduct a scientific study to assess possible sources of pathogen indicators and the contribution of OSTDS to coastal surface water quality in Taylor County, FL by using multiple tracers. The results will be used to evaluate source tracking hypotheses for nutrients and pathogen indicators so that County health managers will be able to develop plans for improving water quality in the coastal communities.

"Contribution of On-Site Treatment and Disposal Systems to Coastal Pollutant Loading"

In 2004, the Florida Water Environment Association Utility Council issued a research grant to FAU Lab.EES to investigate the role of on-site treatment and disposal systems (OSTDS), or septic tanks, in the contamination of urban coastal areas in Dania Beach, FL.
